Prayer Challenge Sept. 18 – Master Mind

Day 18 – Master Mind

Prayer Time Goal: 18 Minutes

If a visual of the inside of our minds were captured, it may resemble Times Square during peak tourist season, or some other jam packed metro-city in the world. There are so many things happening in so many different directions all at the same time.

Imagine that same bustling city with no traffic lights or signs. There would be potential for countless accidents and total chaos and unrest. How diligent are you about managing the traffic in your mind? Often times thoughts pop up uninvited. New information presents itself uninvited. Past pain reminds you of experiences you long to forget. An overload of thoughts just bombarding the door to get into your mind and shift your thinking.

When the thoughts pile up, trying to persuade you that you are alone, helpless, worthless, and hopeless, what sign do you put up? Are you prepared to meet those thoughts with a yield sign or stop light? Or, do you have a green light that welcomes more condemning thoughts? Do you miss the signs that indicate your thoughts are going the wrong way? Or, do you let them wander wherever they may? 

Today, you are charged to remember that while you may not be able to control the thoughts that enter your main road, you do have the ability to master your mind. Ask the Lord to strengthen you to set up detours, red lights, stop signs, guardrails, and road closed signs in your mind. Overcome lies with God’s truth. 

Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Philippians 2:5 – Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 10:5 – We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Philippians 4:8 – Whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.

Proverbs 23:7 – As someone thinks within himself, so he is.

Romans 12:2 – Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will.
