Feeling drained (or surprised) and beating yourself up because you failed to follow?
Truth is, you will at times fall short and miss the mark of righteousness.
Maybe today, you gave into responding or tending to that situation in the way that your flesh demanded – knowing that perhaps the Holy Spirit was steering you in a different direction.
The conviction – not condemnation – that you’re feeling now is from Him. The Lord corrects those that He loves (Proverbs 3:12) and correction certainly doesn’t feel good – but it is LIFE giving.
When you have failed to follow the Spirit’s leading, evaluate the deeper reason behind the words that may have come out, or even the attitude or behavior that surfaced. When (and oh you will be faced with this test again!) you are under pressure the next go-round, remember: Be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger (James 1:19-20).
As for right now, you’re aware that you have failed to follow. Repent and confess.
You can rest assured that He will forgive you.
Look forward and seek His face tonight to train your ears and your will in preparation for all of your tomorrows.
